back to school, student at 50 years old

Yes, as you read, I am student at 50 years old. It is an unique experience. But not in our country, in our education system, where everybody (colleagues and teachers) would have staring at you, asking you a lot of questions. Yes, I had the courage and I enrolled in a master in UK and, although I’ve had many doubts, I do not speak English very well, I’ve had to leave behind the comfort offered by my home, I haven’t known if I would be able to learn, to get accustomed to their education system (do not forget that I did a communist school) , I did it. It is a challenge that so far I can say that satisfies me completely. Don’t think it is easy, but not too hard for me. Here everything works according to certain rules, very well established, everybody has to follow them. It is

Brazilian experience in Cardiff

It was my son’s birthday a few days ago and we went out to buy him a present and then to eat something. I bought a pair of boots (40% discount for holiday in Cardiff), and then we went to the restaurant, Viva Brazil. Sometimes ago he told me about this restaurant with a very good Brazilian food. menu They have 2 menus: one with 4 types of meat and unlimited salads and dishes; the other one with everything unlimited. He chose the unlimited one, I chose that with 4 types of meat, because I am not allowed to eat too much meat, (200 gram/week), the truth is that, before knowing about my health problems, I ate a great quantity of meat :), now I am trying to limit it because of the pain I had in past. But that night I ate meat for 1 month :), we had

cititi doar daca sunteti open-mind

UK, no dog shits and no Bimbo

But today I saw one (a shit), really. Sincerely, I don’t know how is possible because I have not seen many dogs since I’ve come here, only about 7 dogs. I don’t know, probably these people do not have pets. There are no dog shits on the streets, I have not seen people with dogs walking on the streets. Sometimes I see a dog at a window on my way to the train station, and rarely I see a man walking his dog. Besides, all the rent adverts specify ‘no pets’. Don’t they love pets? I have a colleague who lives in Cardiff and I will ask her about this. The fact is, there are no dogs on the streets. How is possible not to see stray dogs on the street? How is possible not to be afraid of walking on the street? Come here, in UK to see how

Cardiff, the city with four seasons in one day

Yes, I’ve been living in Cardiff for 1 month and I will stay here for a while. I love it. I do things that at home I have never thought to do, for example, I walk more than at home where I have a car, and believe me, I don’t have any pain, back pain, feet pain, nothing. I like it very much. If I have to travel by train or bus only 1 station I prefer to walk and I am surprised too of my choice. sun, hail and rain Let’s back to topic. When I go to school, University of South Wales, in the morning, the sun is shining, I think to myself I have to go back home and take my sunglasses, but it is late and I give up, I don’t want to miss the train. I travel 3 or 4 stations, I get off the

21st of April – The Queen’s Birthday

my words don’t make any sense. I choose some relevant articles and videos from The Telegraph. they did a really great job. just read and watch! you can see why does the Queen has two birthdays; Queen’s 90th birthday: when is it and how will it be celebrated?; the  Queen’s birthday: 90 years in 90 seconds or 8 things you didn’t know about the Queen. Happy Birthday! I am grateful that I have the opportunity to live in the U.K. image source

Mother’s Day in Cardiff

Actually, I wrote this story last year on Mother’s Day (at the Romanian section). The only thing I’ve changed is the period of celebrating. Last year, Mother’s Day was on March 15th and this year was yesterday, on  6th of March. I consider that the Mother’s Day is celebrating at the beginning of March, on a Sunday. Yesterday I did almost the same things that I did last year, with the difference that I did’t use the train 🙂  so, enjoy! 🙂 In UK is celebrating Mother’s Day, a funny idea for me as mother, but it seems to be the same day as March 8th in Romania, the difference is that in UK is Mother’s day, not Woman’s day. There are different dates in the world for celebrating Mother’s day but March 8th is the International Woman’s day, celebrated in the ex-communist countries. I prefer Woman’s day, Mother’s day

how I’ve decided to have a blog

The idea of having a blog came to me long time ago, but the decision of starting it I took when I divorced. I hate so much that man and I want to shout loudly all the bad things he had made me. Normally, I believe in solving the problems by yourself, with your family, but, when there is a risk of getting suffocating, when you are in that moment when you don’t trust anyone and anything, you think it’s better to tell others. I’ve decided to be an anonymous person, it’s better for the moment. Obviously, most of you will know my identity when I will send links and read my articles. This is want I want because in other case the category “The Deceased”, will be nonsense. About me Generally I am an understanding person and pacifist. I accept many things, I overlook a lot of things, some

why cocktailantistress?

Because, as I wrote in the article how to chose a name for your blog, I want to write about everything, a cocktail of subjects concerning what bothers me, what makes me happy or hysterical. I have the impression that, when I am writing, I can unburden my soul, I calm down, I share with you my joys and troubles, so this means anti-stress. Because I am thinking that you enjoy what you read, you can discover that you are not the only one who has problems or unpleasant experiences. This could be an anti-stress for you too. Cocktail because I will write stories, epigrams, dialogues, opinions about music, people, me and my friends, enemies, colleagues, neighbours, etc. I will laugh with you, I will cry, I will talk civilized or using curses, I will tell you good and bad jokes, I will be here with you, listening your opinions.
